help me replace my 9887

Sorry about that, your post gave me the impression that you are looking for a new head unit and you were looking for some suggestions. You said that you did not want another Alpine, but I thought I would throw out that the 9886 is a solid unit. IMO much better than the 9887. Just wanted to give you positive feedback about another option.

lmao that 86 has bass and treble untill you add the imprint then it makes it a 87 so how it is better is quite subjective as the only difference would be looks.

ive actually been looking at the kenwood, but its only a 3 band parametric eq

On their site it says 5 band EQ. I'm not sure about mine because I leave the EQ flat. I really wanted bluetooth, usb, 1/8" jack, and DTA all without buying extra stuff like the alpine.

hmmm so it does, wwierd that sonic says 3 band. but if it has the 5 then yeah its on par then i wondering abotu some pioneers, 9800bt,710bt and when it comes out the mvh 8200 looks reall nice, i would really like a 880prs bnib tho

thats what i thought, unless you throw imprint into the mix then their the same deck just different look,illumination options, but to each their own i guess.

even with imprint the 9887 has something built in that makes using the imprint easier. i cant remember but you dont have to buy the additional part. if the 9886 was the 9887 why'd they make a higher line. I went back and forth between the 86 and 87 and you see what i went with.

the same reason they make you buy all the add on things like bt etc. cuz they dont give a shit, its all about the money, and people will buy, but anywho back onto topic. any other good input besides the kenwood

pioneer just released their new models and dont have a street date on them yet so you could go with this but its an 09 model but still has 7 band eq and 4 volt preouts. no blue tooth but has 2 usb inputs ,front and rear, and it will read ipod through usb.

I also want to add about the 993 is that you can stream music from your ipod or cellphone over bluetooth. I dunno if the others can, but I found this pretty neat, even if I don't use it lol
