Jared420 Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 I just sent a paypal payment for a clif designs CD4800.1 The amps rated at 13 volts for over 3500rms at 2 ohms, and 4800 at 1 ohm, I forget right now but its rated a bit over 5000rms at .5 ohms. I am switching over from 2 aq 1200s strapped but each of those has a 120amp fuse rating on the amp so I have 120a fuses between my rear battery and the amps as well but the clif design says the current draw is 220amps @2ohm which I am going to start off with but when I get a chance to rewire my subs I am going to try it out at .5 ohms, the amp is listed by clif designs as being stable and warrantied to .5 ohms. Everytime you splice into the power wire it reduces the current draw. your point if it can run at 17.5 volts? that is not needed for daily use. if you want to feel safe that your expensive toy wont blow the fuck up when you're beating then fuse the amp.
s_carter Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 having a 250 amp fuse on each run to the amp would be the same as having a single 500 amp fuse (in a perfect world, perhaps) the current draw is split in half between each run of wire, hence 200 - 250 amp fuses will be fine..
