Gingeriffik Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 Been reading and reading, playing with box calculators, anything that I can think of. 1 think I just cant seem to get is, does the air volume in the port belong to the port or the enclosure?????? Been very frustrating that I can't figure this out, is there a resource that some one could point me to to understand this better??? You want to account for the total displacement of the port so you need to have the port in hand and measure the actual outside dia of the port. It may be 6.25in or so. You also dont want to subtract the total length of the port. The portion passing thru the enclosure wall, 3/4 in for a single wall and 1.5" for a double wall shouldnt be added to the length. Just the portion that is inside the enclosure. Account for the sub displacement and any bracing you will be adding.

If thats the case just build the box 8 cubic feet and add the ports and subs. The displacements have been allowed for already. If you add bracing you will need to account for that. Your net volume will be 3.7 something per sub. That will be just fine for those subs.
