BeachJoshua
So I blew an amp yesterday, and I want to know if I can repair it myself, the first step is to know what part it is that blew... so it'd be nice if someone could tell me what part this is... Also, anyone have any idea of what a shop would charge to fix this or where I could get it fixed the cheapest? | S-10 | 4.5^3 ft | 33Hz | SAE-1000D @ 1 Ohm | 2 SA-12s | SPL: 143.7 Sealed | 153.4 Port Wars

Boon
What is that? I want to say it's a Memphis but I'm not certain. If you have to ask what that part is there's no point in trying to fix it, sorry to be so blunt but it's not simple electronics. You need a scope to check the power supply drive signal is OK because if it's not the amp will either perform very badly or just blow up in your face the first time you give it power. That is the power supply section of the amp. The metal bar is probably a part of the clamping system that holds the MOSFETs against the heatsink. Chances are the FETs underneath are pretty cooked although it's worth mentioning that often the power supply section only blows because the output section has gone bad. And if the output section of that amp is bad you don't have a hope in hell of fixing it. 10.x volts fo' life!
