chapo123 Posted March 20, 2010 Report Share Posted March 20, 2010 hey thanks for looking... im about to build a box but cant decide what to tune it too. its gonna be ported of course. its for my 12 fi btl. running off a memphis amp running at 3000rms at 1 ohm.. i listen to alot of rap, so of course i want to hit the low notes pretty good but i heard tuning higher (34-37hz) hits you in the chest harder. i currently have a 2.0 cubic feet box tuned to 37hz and its loud but sucks on the low notes. and for this box its gonna be like 3 cubic feet. would i notice a big enough difference due to 1 more cubic feet? so basically 32hz or 34hz? its for daily music. i never compete, but i still want it to be loud and hit me in the chest feeling i get with my 37hz box right now? on the fi site he recommends 32hz for daily music. but idk. people plz help lol and im planning on using a 1 inch thick plexi glass for the top? is that bad? and any tips on how to get that mirror finish you usually see on fiberglass for mdf?? i want that shiny mirror black like what steve has on chickens caddy for the dash? i know theres alot of smart people on here so id thought id ask. thanks i really appreciate it. Neo_frog Posted March 20, 2010 Report Share Posted March 20, 2010 First off, what Memphis amp are you running? I haven't seen one that does 3000RMS. Tune it to 32. You'll be fine and it will hit the lows better. There will be a difference in the music also, but I'm a fan of gut wrenching lows.
