As soon as I get back to Oklahoma (I don't know when yet, it depends on when the Navy lets my brother out for good lol), I will be starting on this, and it should take no more than 2 weeks starting from the day I get back for me to finish it. kryptonite Posted August 18, 2012 Report Share Posted August 18, 2012 Don't know if you've done a blowthrough before but this might help. Measure 10 times and than measure again than cut lol. I used a 1 3/8" metal hole saw for the corners than connected them with the sides. 9" demolition sawzall blade will cut both walls evenly, just keep the sawzall guide against the wall and keep the sawzall level. If u can somehow put an "x" shaped brace inbetween the walls for support, thatll help with the last section from flexing. When I cut mine I had a bitch of a time with the sheetmetal turning to jello with the blade movement. Have fun! I am going to use the sawzall for the straight lines, and a metal blade on my jigsaw for the corners. I don't have access to a hole saw, otherwise I would use that lol. I will definitely try to use some type of support for it, but I might have to just have someone hold them somehow lol. kryptonite Posted August 19, 2012 Report Share Posted August 19, 2012 Obviously lay out your lines, use something like a solo cup for the radius in each corner, drill a pilot hole at the entry and exit of each radius big enough for the jigsaw blade and you should be good. If the blade is long enough to go through both walls, take advantage of it lol.
