How to hook up 2 amps for 2 subs

Recommended Posts

So each sub rms 1500 watts and if i were to use one of the amps then each amp is 2400watts rms so that wont be able to handle both subs..

how do you hook up the amps? like run each amp to one sub and then battery.. having two 0gauge wires from both amps to my pos. terminal.. and have 2 fuse holders?

ive never had to connect 2 amps before so im a lil skeptical about it.. thanks in advance guys! appreciate it.

TeeJayBee, that comment doesn't help.

If you wire your subs at 2 ohms then your amp will send out 1600 watts rms which should be ok.

Edit: Hook your system up and have fun with it. If you don't like it then sell it and buy something else, but not everyone needs all RF gear. lol

do like this man says, wire each sub to 2ohms, you do this by paralleling them. that means wiring each voice coil together. you take the positive on one side to the positive to the other side, and the negative from one side to the negative to the other side, then take a positive from one voice coil and a negative from the other voice coil and run that to the amp. this takes your dual 4ohm voice coils and makes them one 2 ohm coil. you will get 1600 watts rms per amp this way. now getting power to your amps is simple...take your main power run(from your battery) to a distribution block and run two smaller power wires to each amp. ex. 4 gauge power wire as main, use two 8 gauge runs to your amp. ground each amp and split the remote on signal to both amps. good luck
