I tuned my gains using a Dmm, they aren't even half way turned up... under what possible circumstances could the gain actually be turned past the 3/4 mark? My front channel is 2 rockford power component speakers, and my rear channel is 4 infinity kappa perfect 6x9's.. I just cant see anyone possibly turning the gains up higher than half way.. Its a DAT 4125 amp btw what if your head unit has a very low output signal? like mine, gain at max and bass boost 3/4 to get the amp to just before clipping. 20 year old head units don't exactly have the best output voltage...
