A quick gain question (kinda dumb)

Recommended Posts

Whats the point of amps having gain knobs that can be turned so far up?

I tuned my gains using a Dmm, they aren't even half way turned up... under what possible circumstances could the gain actually be turned past the 3/4 mark?

Im only asking cuz im curious

Im talking specifically about a 4channel here...

My front channel is 2 rockford power component speakers, and my rear channel is 4 infinity kappa perfect 6x9's..

I just cant see anyone possibly turning the gains up higher than half way..

Its a DAT 4125 amp btw

what if your head unit has a very low output signal? like mine, gain at max and bass boost 3/4 to get the amp to just before clipping. 20 year old head units don't exactly have the best output voltage...
