S-10 Extended Cab Sound deadening...

I took out the head liner the other day found out most flex is this bar that goes across the roof, this gunky sticky stuf no longer holds the roof to it, and both the bar and the roof flex, I also realized the head liner acts as sound deadener, I was wondering, if I put dynamat or something on the roof, is this going to fix it, or do I need to fix that support?

well if the sticky shit is not holding to the roof then get some caulk to fix that and sound deadenier will help also.

im surprised that you have roof flex i have very little roof flex in mine.

My roof flex is evil... and it flexs in the back drivers side the most...

and what do you have in yours because I have 4 12 inch kicker comps in a ported box... and I run windows down passenger rear open... my box takes up the whole back of the truck, basically.

My roof flex is also pretty nasty. One 15 on 2000 watts, sub & port up

I don't know what your looking at but if the brace is weldable i would weld it to the roof. I would think this would help out with your massive amount of flexing. Then I would say throw some deadner on there and this should really cut back on the flex and vibes.

i have a level 4 18" and i don"t ever have vents open. if you fix that brace it should help alot

Had the same exact problem. The metal roof on the s-10 extended cab was just making this sheet metal loud pitch bang. I got some quickroof at homedepo ( or use fatmat or any other deadener) put it over that one support beam and the whole top roof then put the head liner back in if you want. And bingo hardly no more flex and no more noise.

Don't try and weld it to the roof, unless you want to repaint it. The factory doesn't even weld that bar to the actual roof skin. They use a 2k seamsealer, your best bet is to clean it up and use seam sealer or something rigid like windshield urethane. It will bond the panel back together, then use your deadener of choice. The deadener topic has been beaten to death, so just choose something in your price range.
