need a box plan for 2 12" orion cobalts

Recommended Posts

alright so i finnaly decided to get rid of my prefab since i hate the port just looks dumb :P, anyways if anyone could draw up some box plans for me id appricate it, i cant really seem to find any dimentions for my "trunk" but eh dont think a box is gunna be 3 feet tall >.>, width wise ill mesure tom.

heres the specs of the subs, mind you theres 2

Fs (Hz) 38

Vas (cu ft) 4.017

Sensitivity 87.2dB

Mounting Hole Diameter (Inches) 10.91

Mounting Depth (Inches) 5.51

my gpa will be building it from 3/4 MDF if we can find some laying around that is, we owned a millwork for awile, but would say 1/2" MDF be ok? or just straight say....pine or oak? jw :P

Legal TL scores145.6 on the dash sealed up in the low 40hz area with the port out145.5 on the dash sealed up @30hz with the port inless then 1k clamped on a 3.5k!

Why would you EVER WANT flex?
huh?...flex is what can make the lows lower and more air being pushed correct?

dont do 1/2. 3/4 with wood dowel bracing will be fine.

says right here on crutchfield, ported box volume: 1.5 cubic ft.

so do a 3cuft box (after sub and port and bracing displacements) tuned to probably 34-35hz will be fine.

you can figure that out yourself since i have absolutely no idea what your max specs are. plus its good that you learn now instead of later. find Torres (thats his username) calculator on here and play with settings.

and really you dont have to worry about bracing its just 2 12's and i think those cobalts are the low end like 500w or something iirc, just a simple 2 12 box will do. Use the RE calculator, itll do everything for you even a cut sheet i think. just google RE box calculator or something :P

Setup:
