Gutta Trash
I have a friend that just had a house built, and he had 11 Elan 8" ceiling speakers put in they all run to 2 sets of jacks behind the entertainment center. He said the people who put them in said that the 2 speakers in that room can be used separate from the others as part of his surround sound for that room (I am guessing that's why there are 2 sets of jacks)He needs an amp that will power the surround sound and the ceiling speakers, his receiver of course is not strong enough to push all of this, any recommendations? bkolfo4
Do the speakers have impedance matching volume controls in line on them, or are they all just in parallel? If they are all in parallel, what impedance is each speaker???? If he is going to use the 2 for surround sound, the receiver will push those two. If the others have impedance matching volume controls (or if he installs a switch box), the receiver can also push them. Most of those volume controls will not handle over 100 watts or so. Otherwise, PE sells a 12 channel amp (PN 300-815) if he wants to power each set individually: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-815 Brian Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.
