GymJunkie
of course I now have more questions. Why should I turn bass boost entirely off? Im looking in the Specifications of my manual and finding nothing about voltage output so how do I find my decks output voltage? Quote 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. GymJunkie
Am I looking for Preamp Voltage? If so I found a site that says it is 2 volts, what should I set the gain to? Why should I keep bass boost off? Quote 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. Jensen UV10 DVD HU Two 12" Sony Xplode (temporary)

elcamino74ss
bump bass boost will just bump the voltage and most likely cause the subs to clip thus doing damage/frying them lots of good guides here on setting gains. all it takes is making a test tone cd, a pre done spreadsheet and dmm. Why should I keep bass boost off? You have to set your amps gain to match the 2v signal from your head unit. Using the bass boost will change the output of the amp. You can use the bass boost if you adjust your gain with the bass boost all the way up. The downside to doing it this way is you have a HUGE boost in frequencies around whatever frequency is boosted and all other frequencies are much quieter. Most of the time it is easiest and best to just keep bass boost down and use the gain only.
