You don't need a fuse at the amp end. You only need a fuse at the other end if you have a battery in the back.

Fuse all voltage SOURCES. Your amp isn't one. Personally I don't fuse the alt either, I just wire it in such a way that it sure as hell won't ever short out... well, if it does, it's because I've just run into a semi and I have bigger things to worry about.
