If it were me... I would. I know there is a Kenwood HU that has 5V outputs but I believe it runs about $450 to $500.

You'll have better sound quality but I wouldnt waste the money (keep in mind that I'm a highschool student who only works 15 hours a week)

Agree completely "hdorre" but if somebody is really looking for great quality sometimes the extra cash spent will help. Me personally I would do it if I had the money but also I would not be getting an eq with 6 or 7V outputs, 3 or 4V seems just fine. If I were him I'd sell the eq and buy another.

I understand that the money will help, but to me it's not worth it. Of course I wouldn't get a crappy headunit with like .5 volt preouts. It all depends on what you are looking for. For example, my dad would do the upgrade because all he wants is SQ

thankx guys. ha.

15 hours huh?

but ya, im just wondering if, because the eq has higher voltage outputs, will the fact that the h/u has lower voltage effect the purpose of having the eq...?

it won't defeat the purpose of having an eq. What the eq does is equalize sound (obviously). You will get the same frequencies with the two headunits, but the sound quality would be different

this is to back myself up about the 15 hrs a week..haha. I work at a daycare center that has an afterschool program to watch the elementary and intermediate schools in the district. The kids get there around 4 pm and the place closes at 7. I applied to watch afterschool so 3 hours times 5 days is 15 hours. The reason I don't work on weekends is because my parents are divorced and I go to my dads house on the weekends

Again like he said it will not defeat the purpose, so it is all on your decision. But then again what else are you going to be running in the truck???
