xXx iKoN xXx Posted April 28, 2010 Report Share Posted April 28, 2010 I have a switch hooked up to shut off the HU but that cuts off the amp as well. I have another switch right next to it that I want to have hooked up to the remote to cut off only the amp that way I can still keep the music playing. The switch has two leads and I know one lead connects to remote but where does the other connect to??? PLEASE HELP. Thanks. Essentially yes. All you're doing is putting the switch in-line with the remote wire. I added a wire from the AMP REM to a switch and then Added another wire from the HU REM to the switch and it did nothing. chewie Posted April 28, 2010 Report Share Posted April 28, 2010 ok.. a switch opens and closes the circuit it would be like you cutting the wire in half and then touching the bare ends to turn it back on.. run the remote wire from the head unit to where you will mount the switch then cut the wire... attach one side from the head unit to one of the tabs on the switch.. then use the other end..(going to the amp to the other tab on the switch... unless you have a light up switch where there is three tabs.. then you use the two that dont say negative. the negative you will ground so when you turn the switch on.. it will light up.
