Sub up port back, in a trunk...

i just did a box for a RF T2 15 off of an alpine pdx1.1000 like that.... and its insane rattle... before deadening.. after deadening.. very very loud.... if you cant fit port and sub rear firing this is your best bet, but don't skimp on deadening.

in case you were curious, we did butyl peal and seal on the floor (where it can't come off, because of gravity) and on the sides and top and trunk lid we did damplifier pro... 2 layers... 0 rattle. the peal and seal didn't smell either. pleasantly surprised.

i got peal and seal on my trunk lid, sides and gonna do floor pretty soon

gotta buy at least three more rolls to finish adding layers but works with out a doubt

bad part: deaden one part gotta do rest or your subs will find the rattles <_<

i would do port forward if you do sub up. I had a box with a 15" sub firing up and port forward and it sounded good, with port back it still sounded good, but lots of trunk rattle and i only gained .1 db. not enough gain to make it worth the rattle.

but with subs and port forward vs subs and port back. back gained me about 4 or 5 db

I did it with a 15 in My grand Prix. It didnt sound bad but it rattled the hell outa the trunk and i think a pair of 12s would have been louder. but other than that i have no regrets.

I wish i could do sub/port forward... i just do not have the space... my Back seat does not fold down... so i would end up just blasting everything into the back of the seats, doesn't seem too efficient to me, haha...

I may end up doing sub up, port forward though... I have one of those fold down armrests with the hole in it, i may end up aiming the port towards that hole.

Sound like a bad/good idea?

And would sub up/port back really make the trunk rattle more than if it was sub/port back?

Another question... if i rigged my seats so that they could fold down... would it be possible to have an 18" sub and seal it off from the trunk?

I just don't know if its possible because the sub has to be on the top of the box.

So basically it would be sub up, port forward... sealed off from the trunk... Is it even possible?

I was going to seal off mine when i had a setup like that, but it didnt really seem like it would make a difference. and as longs as you hav 5 or 6 inches from the port to the back seat then youll be ok. I have the center of my back seat cut out where an armrest was, with the port on the driverside and it sounds good
