do i need more port area?

well after i got done building those ported boxs mtx recomends for my mtx 5500 1544's i put em in my truck today

and i must admit i was skeptical on how it would sound at first but once i got it pritty much dialed in

it FUKIN WANGS!! lol, i never thought a ported box would sound this good but i guess it worked out pritty good i guess

anyways heres my question, when i play lower hertz songs and when it plays notes around the 30-36htz range i can feel the bass and see the subs move a lil bit but not much, but theres hardly any air comeing out of the port when it does this

i mean like on vol 10 of 40 it was moveing my doors mirrows pritty good, i unno if its cause its a truck or what but shouldn't they be hella air moveing out my port even at lower volumes

or is it the sound resonating threw the box n thats were its gettin the notes out will the subs move enough to pump out air?

anyways now that i got a ported box i will never go sealed again, these subs never hit lows like this befor in that sealed box i had, thats kinda why i got my mtx 8000's

and i wonder what it would sound like if i put the 8000's in those ported boxs lol

anyways these are ported box noob questions, ive always ran sealed

i know i have bad grammer so no one needs to point that out here, and i will try to make a couple vids tommrow if i can

air could be slipping through were you put your pieces together

glued, and caulked, no air leaking any were else

this is just a normal thing ive had happin to most of the ported boxs ive built,

i mean it sounds killer but i was wondering why i can feel the lows at a lower volume but no air comes out the port when i can feel it

air comes out it like hell when i have it turned up, but at lower volumes i was wondering why i can still feel the bass hitting but cant feel hardly any airflowing out the port?

oh ya, wood is 3/4 9ply baltic birch, maby thats why cause most ppl make guitars out of birch too

could just be resonating the box, i mean its solid as shit and air tight ecept for the port in it

oh, and how the hell can u tell what its tuned to?

i tryed designing it on re box calc and it said it was tuned to 26ish hertz and i was like, hmm i unnno bout that one

why i ask is cause i dont have my sub sonic filter to high

it goes from 20htz-50htz, i got it set to 20 cause i couldn't get any lower bass out of it were i did have it set

i got to plain around with my system the other day and my ported boxs doesn't play lows worth a shit, now the notes around 38htz and up are loud as shit but anything 36 and below sound like poop, my mids n highs have more bass at points than my damn 15's do, i guess mtx doesn't know how to tune a box right cause i built it to there exact specs and i get nothing out of it

is it normal for a sealed box built to spec for 2 15's in a downfire to hit lows more than a ported one built to spec?

im gunna take out my ported boxs monday befor school and put my old box in it, sealed sounds way better than those do but i still dunno why i halfto retune my system every now and again cause it tends to not be as loud as it useto be

when i had my 5500's in the sealed box they would play lows nicely at a lower volume but as u turned it up they acted like they wasn't even in a box

but when i put my 8000's in it they would flex the shit out of my truck on about everything so i unno

then i have this question, if i was to build a ported box and use pvc will i have alot of port noise or no? and will it have somewhat of a flat resonance kinda like sound pritty good on everything?
