chapo123 Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 should i have it on or off? its the old power series t1000.1bd not the new black ones. the tan and black ones. its gonna be here in the mail by wednesday. i was looking it up and noticed theres a switch that says infasonic filter (on or off) which should i do? its gonna be a ported box. not built yet so dont know what its tuned too. should it be on or off? what does it do? Steve I don't know why but everytime I see your new paint I want a Dr. Pepper...... is this normal? heres an analogy for you. running a high power stereo without a fuse is like having unprotected sex with that hot chick at the bar with the sketchy sexual history. hdorre Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 I would keep it on. The cut off of it is 28hz (the lowest note it plays is 28 h with it on). With it off, I believe it tries to play all frequencies. ISO Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 On average you always use a sub-sonic/infrasonic filter with a ported box or with small drivers that are over powered. We will deal with the first one for you. What it does is cut out the frequencies that are normally below the tuning frequency of most ported boxes and that in turn helps save your subs from unloading witch means your saving your subs from potential mechanical damage and in rare cases from blowing. Edit: A positive side affect of useing a sub/sonic filter is that it can help out a weak electrical system since the amplifier is not trying to amplify those very current hog low notes.
