D-train-13k Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 where would i buy the strut mounts for a ford f150 4wd i have a 2000 and i want to convert it to a 4wd. its my grandfathers and i want to keep the original truck. so i know its going to be a pain in the ass if anyone can help me decide if it would be easier to keep it independent suspension or just go to a junkyard and take a couple rigid axles off a bronco and go leaves on the front. thanks guys. LilTeddyP Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 I would do a straight axle in the front for ease, either way, major pita Quote 2001 Bravada (2wd) Pewter on 24's JVC KW-AV60BT 10 Alpine Type-S 6.5s 2 PSI/BTL 18's @ 32Hz 2 Rockford Fosgate T25001-bd's @ 1-ohm each Rockford Fosgate T1000-4 Rockford Fosgate T400-4 Rockford 3Sixty.2 Yellow top up front, 2 9a31s in the back LOTS of AT 1/0 Python 991 350 Amp Singer Alt "Build Log" My Facebook My YouTube i didnt see the video or read anything but...cool story and the reason your being a cock tonight is?
linden Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 i know on the super duties all the factor hangers and mounts for a 4wd are their on the 2wd. so if you could find a truck to canibalize it would be fairly easy to do if thats the case on in the 150s. but IMO your best bet is to do a leaf spring SAS suspension. all the brackets are available. but besides the axle you have to decide if you want run a divorced case or if you want to find a 4wd tranny swap out and run a married case. i would run a divorced case you have more options the only complicated part would be welding up brackets. why do you want 4wd is what you need to ask your self and build around that answer. 00_XJ Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 (edited) Definately go SAS, the swap will be easier and they're damn near impossible to tear up. You're best bet is to find a wrecked 4x4 and convert it straight over. That way you have a reference and aren't searching for the parts. The easiest way would be to just swap your body with the wrecked parts truck. Given that the only damage was to the body.
