parton226
smoke is never a good sign. im not an amp expert so i cant really tell you what it might be but i do know that they dont work once you let the magic smoke out and you cant put that shit back lol. i would take it to someone who repairs them and let them look at it and see what they say. AKBass
id probably stop trying to hook it up!. If it sparks when u hook up power something is fried/shorted to ground internally, and needs repair. are you really running 8 ga to a 4k amp... I know nothing about your amp but but im pretty sure thats not enough wire to support that power draw, if its a true 4k amp Edited May 15, 2010 by AKBass Quote Current Ford F350 Alpine IVA-W505 2x Diamond s600 1x Diamond S400 2x RF T1500-1BD 1x RF T600-4 2x AA Havoc 12" DC Power 230XP 1/0 throughout Up Next 95 2dr Tahoe Head Unit= Alpine IVA-W505 Components= 2 Diamond S400, 2 Diamond S500, 2 Diamond S600 Woofers= 2 10" Diamond Hex, 2 12" Diamond D9 Amps= 3 RF T1000-4 Processor= 2 RF 3sixty.2 Subs= 4 18" AA Mayhem Amps 4 RF T2500-1 BDCP 7 XS Power D3100 3 DC Power 270+
Blackedout
Take the amp out, take the backplate off and look. If it smells burnt, and you see burnt shit, it's fucked up. Use electrical tape to make the ends of your power wire non conductive so you don't catch your shit on fire while your amp is out. cthedinger
like the sparks are green and then after i want to say 2-4 seconds smoke comes out Well your amp is obviously fried. Nothing you can do about it now. Quote If you have any questions PM me or Add me on Facebook CLICK ME! Boon
Amp's cooked. Probably power MOSFETs but maybe transformer short. Either way, seeing as it runs on 8 gauge power wire, the repair bill will probably be 2-3 times what the amp's worth. Quote 10.x volts fo' life!
