Guest
short answer yes long answer no. if he wires up a woofer to a 4 channel (if the woofer is a dual voice coil), then the 2 coils will be fighting each other when there is unequal bass (or fading from left to right) and that is something you dont want. tell your friend to get a monoblock amplifier. 4 channels are made for 4 speakers, or 2 speakers and 1-2 low power handling woofers (wont see these anymore since they did that in the 90's) that are single voice coil. CrankedPhelo
Do he really needs a new amp or we can get it to work, like if i use chann 1 and 2 and dont touch to 3 and 4? if he needs a mono amp for teh woofer, could he use the 4 chan for 4 6x9? would that be okay? bigredishott
can probly bridge ch 3&4 for sub and use ch 1&2 for front highs or rear highs. If you bridge the amp make sure you cange any switches accordingly (if any) and don't put anything lower than a 4 ohm load on the bridged channels! I just did a lil system in my uncles vette with a lil 4 channel 2 chs for front speakers and 2 bridged for his lil woofer! sounds pretty good for what it is! Guest
dont get me wrong, you can use 2 channels and leave the other 2 untouched, but i'm seeing this situation as using half an amplifier for one speaker...anyways, yes that will work perfectly fine if you bridge 2 channels and leave the other 2 untouched. 7jezuz7
what four channel amp and sub is this, maybe we could further help. my 4 channel kicker zx460 does wonders with my two 15's 2 channels bridged and @ 2ohms to one dual 4 ohm sub and the other two channels to the other sub An Audio Technix 18" Strato on a Kicker KX120.2 My Youtube Bass Vids Updates When Possible... I think we'll go with this^^.Here Is the amp its a 4ch with 1200watts. i dont understand whatcha mean by switches. like if i bridge the sub on 3rd and 4th chann and use the 1&2 for 6x9s will there be to much power to the 6x9 to get em blown? All those setting knobs have need to be adjusted properly, so that channels 1&2 can play the proper frequencies for speakers and 3&4 for a subwoofer and no the 6x9 will be separate from the sub channels so there is no reason to blow them unless you turn everything up too much or wire something wrong An Audio Technix 18" Strato on a Kicker KX120.2 My Youtube Bass Vids Updates When Possible...
