After voltage drop and imp. rise I bet you're lucky to 600-800 out of that amp. Also, about the fusing problem you had. If it blew the 30A and you replaced them with 40A doesn't that tell you something must not be right? If a car has a 25A fuse and it blows do you just put a bigger one in? No. You probably have a grounding issue somewhere, you might want to check that out. If you don't you might have something more expensive than a fuse go next time.
