is this necessary?

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab with the 7 speaker Bose system and no Onstar. So is the classII data bus necessary if I don't have Onstar, eventually do not plan on using the stock speakers or shitty console sub, and hate door chimes anyway? Here is the link to what I am askin about.

Also, apparently I bought the wrong year and cab of truck to put any kind of decent sub in, so if you have any input, feel free to inform. Right now it is lookin like 4 slim line 10s behind the seat or 2 underneath...I would love to have 4 of the Sundown SA-8 under or behind the seat, but they are about 1/2" too deep, unless, once again, anybody has any input!

Does your radio have any type of data center like telling you a door is open or fuel mileage? If the radio is just the radio then you might not need that. I've only done one newer chevy install and it was in a 05 malibu which had the data center built into the radio and the installation kit included a data center to replace the factory one. If all that controls is GPS, Onstar, and door chimes then you shouldn't need it.

check out polk audio mm subs they are a shallow depth sub but not a actuall slim sub and they get down they have datta bus adapters that don't have onstar or the bose system

No, all that is under the gauge cluster, but crutchfield, which I am sure is probably a legal thing, is tellin me I need this $50 adapter for 2 of the 3 things that I either don't have or want! haha, thanks tho, I guess I will just have try with out first and go from there

For real? I have only heard good things about the kicker slims and that all others pretty much blow. guess i will have to take a look at them for sure.

I'm sure they do, but then I wouldn't need an adapter

I would pit a polk mm sub against kickers slim sub any time everytime my buddy has put them in a few cutomers cars they have pounded never been dissapointed he did 3 in a box behind the backseat of a crew cab gmc truck 02 I beleve may be newer on a soundstream trantula 2000D it pounds! very loud!
