ive had a few diff brands of mids n highs and i love my polk db's but i need a better amp, my memphis does ok job running mine but i need to get my 4ch fixed so i can turn my back speakers up more cause i cant hear em lol, i was thinking bout unhooking the back ones and see how just the fronts sound and if they aint to bad im gunna throw some 6&1/2'' subs in the back

but your amp plays a big roll in how ur speakers sound, ived used shit amps and good amps and u can tell the diff, i got a sony "600w" 4ch and it works ok but i despise it so bad even tho i need a 4ch i wont use it, made my speakers sound like ass, but my majestic, memphis, and a few others were ok

i useto have a big setup in my geo with those vr3 amps walmart useto sell, had a 200w on front speakers, 200w on rear speakers, and 400w 4ch bridged on rear tweets(i dunno why i did this shit, it was back when i was hella noob and after 3days it blew the tweets

dual aint the worst u could get, but if u spent the money u could have alot better, you get what you pay for in audio, i kno some shit is to expensive but still at a decent price you get what you pay for

for mids n highs, i like the kickers i got, they kept up with bass a lil bit better than my polks, but my polks have a better midbass/fuller sound to em tho, but i still need a 4ch so i can run active and really see what these things can do

im looking for loud and clear mids n highs too but i work with what i got

from the years and so on, for ur budget those pg's aint bad sounding, i swaped out some front speakers with the pg rsd coax's and off deck power they was clean sounding

oh, and some 6&1/2's dont fit holes some other 6&1/2's do, my kickers wont fit were my polks do, and the kickers wont fit were the polks do

and another question, is the $100 budget for 1 comp set or 2 comp sets?

i just need to upgrade to something decent priced but pretty nice at the same time. your right about the phoenix gold's being about my best bang for the buck right now.

unless anyone knows how those alpine comps or soundstream comps sound compared to the phoenix gold's i posted?

were your polk db's around my price range?

i have ran the alpine set b4 and they are pretty dam loud and the have a higher rms than the phoenix gold's. all the ones i posted do

but i unno whats really loud, u cant tell shit from youtube, and most ppl run 2 or 4 sets of comps and u cant tell from that either, some dude ran a set of the cheap rf comps and they seemed to be loud wit a good amp

i heard some alpine type s comps at bestbuy one day and they sounded pritty good off deck power, dunno how loud they get tho, im not one of those kids that turn shit up and walk away, but they had some good sq to em

very. i started with pold db's they were good but the alpines sounded a little cleaner and could take some more juice. (keep in mind, same car, anp, and deck ONLY CHANGED THE SPEAKERS) the alpines were very clean for the money
