My link Only thing I did differently was every 2 coats i did a 2000 grit wetsand to try and blend the paint more. It will come out a bit 'spotty' if you dont.

My plan was to sand with some 1000 grit then spray the VHT and sand with the 1000 grit between coats, then sand again before the clear and again after then come in with some polish. Yes you can clear them. I cleared mine eventually. Too many projects, too little time...
