thehoe92 Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 See... The way that EQ works, you connect the RCA from the "front" channel on the radio to the input on the EQ. The signal that the EQ receives needs to be a full range signal... So if I were to set the HPF on the headunit I would not get any bass output to the subs... Am I wrong? maybe thats how you are supposed to set it up but I've always thought that the EQ is supposed to be for fine tuning of what is already present meaning you set all your settings in your deck the way you like then fine tune it with the EQ I've always had defeat off on my Alpine and set the bass to +7 because it effects the subwoofer as well.. treble at -4.. HPF at 80hz.. bass engine centered around 60hz with the bandwidth set to 4 and treble set to 12.5khz with no problems how high are the dials set on your EQ.. mine are turned up just barely past 12 oclock as for the 7v preout that is max preout just like your amp if it were to be in a retail store would say 2000 watts peak general rule of thumb for that is divide it in half for RMS and you would get 1000 RMS just like 7v preout max.. divide in half is 3.5v preout just a little upgrade to the 2v preout on your Alpine as for the mids and highs let me know if your HPF is still set to 150hz after you turn defeat off and set everything in the deck I guarantee you will hear a noticeable SQ difference when you get everything set through the deck.. much warmer sound Wouldnt be thehoe92 without teh purple

After the 6 minute video I felt the Amps, just for shits and giggles felt pretty warm... Had an hour car ride ahead of me... Turned the amp gain all the way down, turned the remote knob down all the way, turned the bass settings on the HU all the way down... The sub was literally turned off... During my car ride, volume at 11/35, heard a pop... Smelled "burning" once again yelled put the word FFFFUUUU at the top of my lungs... Figured something was fucked. Pulled over, saw no smoke... Got to my destination... Pulled the fuses... All 4 fuses were fried and broke apart... So now I'm left with another possibly broken amp, and I don't know what to think... I'm literally scarred to put new fuses in it... I just don't get it, I don't abuse it... I don't clip it, it's only running at 2 ohms... Bill, please respond to my emails... I even double checked the entire thing after the first one gave me problems. Noob_On_Droid Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 Your lpf is a slope not a hard cut. Meaning that you will play frequencies below the set point but at much less output. Which means, if you set to 150 your still playing down to 80 just not as loud. Find the safe medium for your application and test/tune for what sounds best. You can also "double crossover" using two crossovers (ex. Eq and amp xovers) both set to the same setting

It sounds like shitz going wrong only when the system is charging??? Never dips below 12.8 or goes above 14.9...
