chapo123
i would do atleast a 200amp alt. if it were for me i would go ahead and get like a 320amp alt just so its there for future upgrades. Quote Steve I don't know why but everytime I see your new paint I want a Dr. Pepper...... is this normal? heres an analogy for you. running a high power stereo without a fuse is like having unprotected sex with that hot chick at the bar with the sketchy sexual history. Sure you may be fine and nothing happens but that one time something does happen you're fucked. i dont want woofer broke like bass sound clip clip and voice coil overheat 2 sa12s, saz1500 build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/91183-chapo123s-sundown-build-log/page__gopid__1250604entry1250604

Jared420
Big 3 for sure, and maybe a 200 or 220 amp alt. you can probably get away with the big 3 and 180 amp alt with those batts but Id play it safe and either think about a slightly bigger alt or a bigger back battery Quote 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
Autruche
I'd say a 220 amp would be great, it's not just that a high output alternator gives you more amperage, quite often they also put out a little higher voltage too, meaning you amp is a little more efficient. But of course this is coming from a guy that is running two stock alternators... lol Quote Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? Iraggi Alternator
so i'm looking to run 3000 watts and obviously an alt upgrade would be necessary... would i be good by just running a 180 amp alt? A 3000 watt amplifier will draw a little over 300 amps. Optimally you would need over 300 amps worth of alt. The current has to come from somewhere. Either batts or alts. Preferably alts. They make their own power and batts just regurgitate the power alts put in them. Eventually they become drained and cause a whole list of problems. What car do you have?
