BboyTaktix Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 I dont like caps with voltage meters because it takes away from what they are supposed to do. In this application i would say sure, ditch the cap. Id recommend 1/0 for connecting the batteries, and also 1/0 going to the fuse block. 125 amps is the limit for 4 gauge.around 250 is the limit for 1/0 (cca at least). so here you have it. front bat---250afuse----------250afuse----rear batt. rear batt--250afuse-----dblock---2 125a fuses-----amps. awesome thanks! and luckily, my car (which is new) comes with the battery already in the trunk. Saves me tons of install time. especially if I do add a second battery. And I'll use the 1 gauge between batteries and to the distr. block. then 4 gauge. So I'll have to upgrade my distr. block. to get one that's 0/1 gauge in and 2x 4 gauge out. Thx for all the help guys! BboyTaktix Posted July 2, 2010 Author Report Posted July 2, 2010 I went to about 5 differed places and none of them have any fukin 1/0 gauge to two 4 gauge distribution blocks that have fuses, and one said that the block needs to have fuses so that 1 amp doesn't back up onto the other...any other ideas? Can I get away with 4 gauge to two 8 gauge or is 8 gauge too small for each Amp? Or what else can I do? I'm frustrated now and wann get my build started, my car is stripped and sitting in my garage waiting to get built Quote 2018 Golf R - Stealth SQ system build - C508GTI front (active), 2x Pioneer Z10LS4, Zapco DSPZ8, Clarion DPX11551 (Mono amp), Pioneer GM-D8604 (front stage amp), Pioneer GM-A3702 (rear fill amp) SOLD! 2011 Subaru STI - 'modest' passive sq system - JBL p660c component (front) JBL P662 (rear) JBL W10GTI (sealed enclosure) 4ch JBL GO1004 (150RMSx4), Clarion DPX11551 mono amp (+-1200RMS@3ohms)
finkster Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 purchase one from knukonceptz.com Shipping is usually very quick from them. sorry for the bad luck so far. Quick question. Are your amps going to be in the trunk? If so, just run two separate wires...one for each amp, of course then you would need 2 different fuse holders but that's easier to find. Good luck. UPDATE!!! i said 'f*ck it", since the electronics stores around here suck and the people don't know their stuff. I thought about different ideas like running both amp power wires from my cap, which I might do in the meantime, but i just purchased a distr. block off ebay that is 0AWG in to (2) 4AWG out, both fused. It will be good once I get a second battery and ditch the cap (although i might keep the cap not sure yet). hopefully i'll receive the distr. block this week, since my build is going pretty well. My car is currently almost completely gutted, and I am still waiting on a shipment of 100sq.ft. of fatmat so I can install that too. Got the new rear speakers in today and tested them. They sound amazing with the new amp. can't wait to hear the front components as well! Thanks for all the help guys! BboyTaktix Posted July 7, 2010 Author Report Posted July 7, 2010 Another question: as opposed to 0 gauge, would 2 gauge wire from battery to battery then from battery to distribution block be sufficient?(and then the 2 gauge in to distribution block splits into two 4 gauge wire, one to each amp) keep in mind there will be only about 1 foot of wire between battery terminals since my main battery is already in the trunk and the second one will be directly beside it.
