superdave07 Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Alright a buddy and i are having a debate maybe you guys can help me. In my civic as of now im running an AP30001d and two 15" Fubars. The subs are dual 4 ohm. I have them running off both channels on the amp at 2ohm per channel. Clamped my amp is doing 1205rms per channel. Heres the debate, He says if I bridge the subs to 1ohm and run them on one channel, ill get more power to my subs since the amp is 1500rms at 1ohm per channel. I disagree because I thought If I bridge them it will divide the power between the two subs? Who is correct here? dugee81 Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 well with those audiopipes, the lowest impedance you can go (bridged) is 2 ohms. 2 ohms bridged will produce around the rated amount (3000 wrms). running 1 ohm bridged will probably give you more power, but they arent stable at that level unless you have strong electrical to back it up. if not, pooooof out comes the magic smoke 200a alt. by Excessive Amperage hc800 under hood & 2 Deka 9a31 in rear 1/0awg + big 3 SAZ 3000D HDC3 18" @ 2 ohm

Robert8252 Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Help me understand the amp better. Is it mono but has two inputs or is it a 2 channel amp? I think it's actually mono so even though there's two inputs it ties then together anways in parrallel I believe. So I think you get what I'm saying. Bridged between the two or each on their own it is still seeing the sane load. So you amp should actually be seeing a 1ohm load when it puts both 2ohm speaker loads together.
