More problems; Head unit messed up?

Hey guys,

Besides the fact that I'm still trying to isolate the source of the engine noise through the speakers, more problems last night. I blew a fuse while giving a demo yesterday (always disappointing). For some reason, when I change any audio settings on my head unit, the next time I turn on my car the speakers and subs are louder and really distorted. Last night resulted in my blowing the fuse to my mono sub amp because of this...my head unit must be messed up. Then this morning, my speakers sounded again all bassy and distorted. I had to turn off the head unit and power it on again to get the normal sound back again...WTF is that about?

The head unit is a clarion max385VD double din. And I was never too happy with it. It freezes on occasion and heats up quite a bit if I drive over 45 mins. It's only about 2 years old. Anyone have experience with this head unit or any idea WTF is wrong with it? Bad ground? Grr...all these problems are turning me away from building my system.
