Soldering Torch

Recommended Posts

If you crimp properly, there's nowhere to put the solder.

A correctly done hex-crimp will cold-weld the lug to the copper. Find charger's pics on here when he hacksawed one open.

BOON!!YOU'RE ALIIIIVE!!

So what would you suggest for maximum current transfer?A proper crimp, or an uncrimped soldered terminal?

I'd like boon to chime in on this, but from what I've read, a properly done crimp is the BEST connection possible since its copper to copper. Solder adds resistance that a crimp doesn't have. But it has to be a properly done crimp. The kind you get using those hand crimpers aren't going to cut it. Between the weak crimp you get with those and a well done solder joint, the solder joint is going to be a better connection.

Again, I'd like Boon to chime in here. He'll know better than I.

You may be offended by the above. Don't take it personally, I'm just abrasive.
