Id say Alpine. I dont know much about JBL but I know Alpine has some good amps.

the sub is rated at 500rms. I know they can a little extra power

but how much do you know?

i have a jbl7001 and its a ballsy 700 watts. its a lot stronger of an amp even if its rated less. a friend of mine is a audio store manager and i get to buy/use/return/upgrade alot of different equipment and i like the jbl alot more. the only down side is its actual size. the foot print is a bit big
