he didnt tell him to put the meter on the remote wire. he asked if it was because it could be a problem. and a 12awg wire is pretty damn big for a remote wire. i mean the power wire to the HU in only about 20-18awg.

veng - you know what, i just remembered i have a relay hooked up so thats why i see 14v lol.

yea i had hooked up my volt meter to my remote wire...

i hooked it straight to my battery today after getting off of work and it read 13.8v on idle

my remote wire was 18 gauge i think.

where would i go to get my stock alt rewired or whatever its called to improve voltage output?

if you hooked your voltmeter up to the power wire instead, you would see how much it drops during the lows just an FYI....and that hifonics is gonna like power....alot. I dont think the Icons would have a problem with a little more power, as long as its clean.

ok thanks. yea ive noticed the amp was a little power hungry when i got it. its not a bad amp though im pretty happy with it as of right now. when i get the subs im gonna try to get an o-scope so ill stay away from any clipping

will a dirty clipped signal hurt the sub or just the amp itself? or both? i thought i knew my ins and outs of car audio but after joining this sight and going through some posts, i see that i still need to learn alot lol

lol we all get put in out place some times. dont worry about it. your learning and there is nothing wrong with that.

clipping will hurt the sub. if the sub blows is can take out the amp with it.
