Guest jbinn Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) I have a $400 budget, already did the big III im running 1500RMS and I dip into the low 13's/12's while driving... I want a steady 14+v idle or driving. I was thinking: Stinger SPV-70 or XS Power 1200 - $180 180a or bigger Alternator H/O (not sure what brand can anyone help me out? ) Big III already ran Edited August 10, 2010 by jbinn Quote
smokeumtires Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Wel you can never have enough electrical. On that budget i would just get a nice alt... You can worry about batts later....Start with the Charging system, Then when you have cash work your way down to the reserve system. SO in this order Alt Big3 VCM/MLA Batts Quote
smokeumtires Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Both DC Power and Irragi are great companies for alts also... I would go with a nice 270sp Which is probably 2-3x more charging at idle than your stock alt and gives you close to 300amp at 1800 rpm Quote
Guest jbinn Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) Ok so can anyone recommend me a really good alternator ? that will do 14v+ @ 1500RMS idle? Edited August 10, 2010 by jbinn Quote

Jared420 Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 That dude just told you Dc power or Iraggi are great alts. If you want to stay above 14 volts at idle bumping full tilt get something around or over 240 amp alt from either of those companies and you wont be disappointed. Also make sure you aren't clipping because when you start clipping your voltage will drop more due to the lack of efficiency. Guest jbinn Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I am clipping thats the problem... even far below tuning on the amplifier I get massive voltage loss. Quote
Jared420 Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 voltage loss doesn't necessarily mean clipping. Takes power to make power, I was just saying if your cranking the gain past where it should be and your amp is clipping the efficiency drops and takes more power and is bad for your amp/sub. Guest jbinn Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I know alla bout clipping and yes I know but a stock electrical running a Kicker KX 600 and a AP 1500D cant be good Quote
