Made me laugh for a sec, your DBs are directly and solely related to you wattage!! Never heard this before, is there any truth to it?

Nope, thats why I asked. I didn't think the 2 were that directly related. Then again i'm not a pure SPL guy.

EDIT: Lets make this a learing opportuity. Based on what the guy said, is that realtionship on the sensitivity and wattage based in free air? Wouldn't an enlosure cause that direct of a relationship to change?

physics states that if u either double cone area or power u gain 3db

the second u put a sub in the box everything changes

that information is correct. but that woofer can and will be louder once you put it in an enclosure to handle the waves the woofer produces...i fail at explaining but it all makes sense in my head lol

Is that chart on that post based off free air measurements then? I was a little confused about the post also, but I see what they are talking about in a sense... I know that I swapped out amps on my 6 15's, went from 750 watts each RMS, to 1100 watts each RMS and gained 6 db...
