slayer1927
Hello my name is cody I go by slayer1927 online and gremlin on the cb. I am 17 and a senior in high school . I want to show off my ride so far. Started out as a stock 2001 silverado 4.8 vortec back in october. I added the toolbox a week after I got it with the cb whip and cb. That was my first upgrade. Next was some new speakers No pics but it was a Panasonic cheap head unit 2 6.5 ample speakers in front and then 2 4x6 profiles in the back. I upgraded to the jvc in December. It was nice till I blow the speakers with the new power. So I went got two 6.5 insignia speakers they are 3 ways work great. and the two 4x6 where still working. After that I got some subs I had a 600 watt sony I got for 35 at the flea market with 2 12inch reactors by fusion They boomed I thought LOL So Next was the big one . RIMS!!!!!!!!!!!! Looked alot different I blew my 600 watt sony my cousin gave me a 800 watt jensen and a 15 inch bostwick spl . http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m315/slayer1927/DSCF0019.jpg It was ok blew that amp trying some new stuff. Next Got a 1000 watt + 1000 watt DHD Amp BAD!@#! power I hooked to the 15 blew it out of the box . So I looked in the garage got the 12's out and they handle all the power and well. Sounds good. After this I got a neon kit online cheap 50 bucks red I have wired everything in my truck myself without learning from anyone that is what happens from being a computer GEEK!! Toolbox broke took off for now!!! I am going to have the truck paid off this year. I want to get a big 350 put in I have a 305 I was told . Also new transmission . Then put a dana locker in the rear. So I can go on the beach without needing 4x4. What else do you think I should do . Next is the 2 12 inch fi subs and 5000 watts 2 battery. JBIRD
ah yea forgot about 4.8s. ray do they? i know the body style after that 2wd drives use coil spring spacers and leaf springs in the rear. while 4wds and tahoes use keys and coil springs in the rear. but im no expert im sure your right. what truck do you have? slayer u do have the 305. a old 350 short block is easy to find for around 500 bucks and they usually are in pretty good shape. id say bore it over to a 383,comp cam, headers, heads, rockers, springs, pistons and throttle body. the options are endless. ive seen a 350 do 450hp for under 3500. they are great engines with lots of potential. good luck with the build man. i cant wait to get a hold of a motor to start on. then an old camaro or gto to drop it in. slayer1927
Sounds like a good plan. My truck has the spacers no torsion bar. Also I need someone to give me a option on what they would do. I have 2 fusion subs I blow one yesterday when a wire bridged my amp. I have a warranty and am going to send both back to get brand new ones. I want to know about powerbass I have found mixed reviews. I want to know if you think the powerbass with my box will be better or not. Same price for them as fusion I get 2 12 powerbass 140 and fusion 140 so no difference. Also I am going to be adding two more subs that is the main reason I am lifted the back seat four inches taking the old box making a custom one for 4 12's mounting the 2 amps on the back will be either a fusion 1000 watt with the dhd 2000 watt or kenwood 1000 watt maybe powerbass not sure on prices yet. bassHZ
seriously slayer all u gotta do is pop ur hood and check for the label on the hood lid it should either be a 4.8l or a 5.3l and are u planning on going with a carburated 350 or a fuel injected i say why not an ls2 engines put some nice headers on it flowmaster ram intake or something and u will be set but i think those stock engines =(LS base) are pretty decent and fuel efficent and easy to mod Edited August 20, 2010 by jl_audio
