They replaced the cva 1005 / 1006 These are AV head units only,meaning they don't have built in cd/dvd players. The CVA 800/ 801 were the CD decks and then the newer version was the IVA D 900 / 901 I have been running the D901 since about 2003ish and to date is one of the most versicle decks I have ever used. For a flip, the D 106 is the last of the the flip outs. Most decks are now double din. For the older flip units you can add a Optional AV Expansion (KCE-104V) Box. Even though 90% of the time I'm listening off the ipod, every now and then I throw in an old cd, or go buy a new one and want to listen to it on the way home. Thanks for the info.
