Chode69 Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 ok...i thought the MLA was supposed to keep a constant 15.3 voltage (system off) but driving i generally see 15.1-14.8...thats not helping me with 14 volt batteries. also when i turn on my headlights i can not get past a 14.5 again not helping me with 14 volt batteries...what can i do to fix this..and don't say VCM because me having a Chrysler made vehicle it cant be done. im wondering why when i turn on my light it just drops all together...it didn't do it for a while then NoFearX18 said: Nick will bang just about anything.....LMAO....pun intended On 4/13/2010 at 9:51 AM, meade916 said: i was like DAMN, Chode is hardcore! he makes james look like a friendly person LOL! trainman0978 said: I dont know who is worse with the buttholes Chode or Big P... PUNKYOU007 Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 Dude in my truck (01 suburban) with my two alts and 5 batteries...if I turn my headlights on my idle voltage drops .1v, if I then turn my map lights on it drops another .1v turn the ac on i drop another .1v Seems like every little accessory I drop a tenth. As you know I had a little issue with my optima the other day. I turned my MLA onto low and I am still seeing 14.8-15v Well have to figure something out together cause I wanna go 14v too Doethepaperboy "Bars of Pain" Doethepaperboy "Hero Remix" C. Arson d(-__-)b beer sucks...but i can bring some jose cuervo. Only problem is that it makes me horny and gives me the rams. So unless yall wanna fight and then have some great make up sex i will leave it home.
Nathan @ XSpower Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 It is my understanding reading and talking to people the MLA only increases the voltage output a certain amount (depending upon the model purchased) over what your alternator is putting out. For example if you purchase a .6V module and your stock alt is putting out 14.2V, then the MLA would push the voltage up to 14.8V. When your alternator warms up and is only charging at 13.3V then the MLA would increase it to 13.9V. Not 100% sure this is what it does, but it is my understanding that is how it works. Got this from their site: " Custom high setpoint module Special setpoint voltages for applications requiring voltages above 15 volts. We can adjust the charging curve to provide peak voltages above 15 as well as higher midpoint voltages. None of our modules charge at a fixed voltage, your actual charging voltage will depend on temperature and load." what you can do is get an external regulator to put on your alt where you can regulate the voltage, or purchase an alt with a voltage set point that will work for you.
dugee81 Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 Did I misread or did you say you are running 14 volt batteries? 200a alt. by Excessive Amperage hc800 under hood & 2 Deka 9a31 in rear 1/0awg + big 3 SAZ 3000D HDC3 18" @ 2 ohm
