slim142
Hi Im thinking about replacing factory speakers and buying some components. They will be powered by an Alpine 9887 and for now, I wont have them with an amplifier, but they will soon be active with a SAX-100.4 I was thinking about going for the Alpine type X, but I honestly dont have much experience with components to certainly know they are exactly what Im looking for. Also, there seems to be a lot of brands that offer good components but I would like some input. What are some top of the line components? slim142
Checked your links for the Boston and their premium ones are $1k a pair? Thats a little too much. I know I said top of the line but thats just ridiculous for a pair of components. About the Crescendo, havent heard at all about them. $100 a pair, but would like more info about this company and their sets first. I was checking Rockford Fosgate T2s, read nothing special about them. Something is telling me to just buy the SPX-17PRO and see how good they perform, then see if I would need to change them. Knowing the quality of Alpine, I suppose I wont get disappointed.
skittlesRgood
ill assume your price range is around 350 since thats what i saw the type x go for. my recommendation is based on what i have heard, what i like, and what my SQ friends talk about. http://www.woofersetc.com/p7174/CXS64-V2--Image-Dynamics-65"-4-ohm-Component-System.htm alpine HU are great, comp sets... eh. image dynamics has great SQ speakers. if your price range is open they have a step up from these for $4XX. slim142
@skittlesRgood Yeah I mean, I was originally planning to get Type X ($~350) so if Im going to be getting something else, then it has to be around that price. Image dynamics sounds like a good company and I had few people telling me about it before. I dont understand the difference between XS65 and the X65 (which are image dynamics top of the line) I think XS65 comes with the tweeter and the X65 doesnt? If so, is the tweeter included in the XS65 the X28 tweeter? Basically their XS65 set is their top of the line right? (Not considering the 6x9 or 5x7 since Im not getting irregular sizes) @2k2 Those crescendo did sound nice! I cant imagine how good they would sound if I was right in front of the car. Will def keep them in mind. Are they a company who just got into the car audio market? Im surprised they have their speakers nicely priced. @Cheese Always heard good things about RE subwoofers, but nothing about their components. $400 for them, would need more comments about them. Basically this were the 4 brands that I was recommended Diamond Audio Image Dynamics Alpine Type X Pioneer Premier I have already checked into Type X, Image dynamic looks great so far and I just checked Diamond Audio and they dont fall behind. However, one thing I dislike about DA is that they only handle 80watts RMS. Was expecting them to be around 100 like most others.
skittlesRgood
yes, the X65 is only the 6.5" speaker, no tweeter or crossover. if you dont clip them, you can easily give them 200w. i have heard these and i know they kick ass. i cant comment on the others you have in mind because i havent heard them. correction, i have heard the pioneer prs720. they sound great but the ID beats them in midbass. Ok so XS65 = X65 paired with the X28 tweeter. Will do a little bit more research but so far they look really good, hopefully they also sound good as well. I wish I had a place to hear and test the Type X so that way I would get an idea of how they sound. Ill prob pass by best buy and hear the type R to have an idea.
