Simba#33 Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 What do you guys do to re-enforce your reaview mirrors? I keep seeing guys with WAY bigger stereos than mine and they still have theirs up. Mine broke off completely on friday on my way home, and the new one the dealer put on (lighter aftermarket one) fell off because the glue didnt hold. so im just wondering, what if the glue cant hold this one on? what do i do? i have 4 12" kicker comps in my trunk hooked up to a T.M.A. 1000 watt amp, nothing huge compared to most guys here i bet but it still hit hard, especially for the car i have ('98 cadillac STS). So how do you guys keep yours from falling off, or breaking off completely in my case. Runningback #33

And let it sit with just the mount for a day to dry and settle all the way before reattaching the mirror. I think some cars just have them reinforced better than others. hmmm ill hafta see because the first mirror that broke broke completely at the stem part (the rod thing from the base to the mirror). so i figured it was just too heavy (built in day/night changer and compass so it had stuff in the mirror). so i went with a lighter regular aftermarket mirror. but with it falling off im kinda wondering what happens if this doesnt hold, im leaving soon to have them put it back on and i saw so many people with HUGE ass stereos on youtube with their mirrors still on that i started wondering Runningback #33

Boon Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Rubber washers on the stem to allow it to move (if it's a screw-to-the-roof one) and nylock nuts or locktite on the threads. You can also try dynamatting the back of the mirror, sometimes it helps and sometimes it makes it worse. If it's a glue-to-the-glass model... well, you're a bit stuffed. 10.x volts fo' life!
