Mobile Chassis Dyno Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 So I decided I wanted a new toy to play with and bought a term lab with dual sensors. I have both an automotive and motorcycle dyno and do custom tuning for FORD and GM cars and trucks along with tuning for all motorcycles. I figure every once in awhile I get a customer in my shop who is also into car audio and I could offer them some SPL results. I first broke in term lab with my probe seeing 138 to 139 dbs from the low 30's to high 40's. Well word got around that Dyno Brian bought a term lab. A customer of mine with some bad ass drag bikes brought his suburban over to test his new build. I do not know the details other then it had 4 FI 18's and 4 Planet Audio amps with one running each sub. Anyway playing some Jeezy sealed up it made 150.X on the dash and 151.X in the kick. With the driverside door open it gained a couple db's. Before he leaves I ask him to let me hear up close. I now know why people say you tube videos do not do justice to just how loud 150+ db is. I am exposed to super loud drag bikes and races cars with open headers in my shop on the dynos and I was still shocked to hear 150db of bass. I think I will stick to my 138+ for now. sqsux Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 I don't know about hearing loss, but I know my everyday driving experience is no longer the same as when I first heard my system. lance_98main Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 you just get used to it, it's like when you use to get the feeling in your stomach when you would go over a top of the hill, or when your riding motocross and you would get that freefalling feeling in your stomach over a jump, but no longer get it after riding a while. I would say it's def just getting used to it and not hearing loss. Not saying it can't lead to hearing loss though.lol 2000 2dr blazer 15" diamond audio d3 4 cubic ft. tuned @ 32hz (slot port, sub back, port back) debating on a wall or no wall. Shay-kee
