nathan when we talked last you were saying you think i mite have a bad controller. well today i removed 2 of my 3 alternators and left the vcm hooked up to the 1 and it adjusts now. what could be the problem when hooked up to 3? i cant try it with 2 cause of pulleys and belt limitations. any ideas?

I'm not sure what would cause that unless one of the regulators was different than the others, or if one of them failed???

Why type of alt harness do they have? 4 pin oval? Are the alts self excite or do you have power running to them?

the 4 pin oval and they just have 1 wire going to sense wire they are irragis just like on steve use to run. dom said they have to have 12v to the post to turn on. anyways heres my dilema now i can adjust it most of the time but it changes voltage on me why doesnt it hold the voltage i set it at./ plus sometimes it wont let me increase the voltage say from 14.8 to 15.1 or2 why?

It changes voltage how? When you have a load on it? Does the voltage drop or increase? Is it the voltage on all the alts or just one or two? What is the voltage output on the alternators set at?

15.1 and 15.2 may be past the alternators capability to sustain that high of a voltage output. Tops for the 12V batteries should be 14.9V.

just one alternator it will go up and down on me. i leave it in adjust mode with the light blinking cause when i lock the setting in it stilldoes it and not when i have a load on it pretty much at different speeds never above 2 k or so rpm. and i dnt know what stock regulator is at. with vcm off the highest reading i got was 14.5

I have same issue, when I hook up my VCM to my quad setup I can't lower the voltage below like 15.9 volts if I have all four alts hooked up, If I hook up three I can't drop it below 15.0, but if I just hook up two or one alt to the vcm and other just connected to the stock harness, I have all the control in the world.

So, above 2k RPM will it let you adjust up and down the voltage range when you have them all hooked up? The highest reading in the mornings on initial start up never goes above 14.5V?

I have the same problem with one or 2 it works fine with 3 i cant drop it below 15v and i have it on a switch and every time i turn it on it peaks at 16.3 and i have to re adjust it real quick befare it blows my computer or something. why is that nathan and why does it lose its memory each time? i wish it had a potentiometer or something so it stays at were you put it at. i just use it for comps cause it wont go below 15v and you said dont charge the batterys higher than 14.9
