AudioMasterKing Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 ok i posted earlier about my mtx thunder 8000 12" not working, ok someone said that i got a dual voice coil sub now so it wont work with my sony home stero with no amp. ok so tell me this.. my 2 10" mtx thunder 6000's are dual voice oil and they work fine. now how come if the dual voice coil 10"s are working fine why isnt my 12" working? is it cause its a 12" and its the thunder 8000 and not 6000? it cant be blown everything looks reallllyy good on it.. besides the previous owner painted the cone black

skittlesRgood Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 check that the speaker really works outside the box. could even use a 9v battery on each coil. no what amp do you have? the problem could be that you are wired at too low of an impedance and the amp is going into protect. AudioMasterKing Posted September 13, 2010 Author Report Posted September 13, 2010 ok i GOT IT! , heres what iv learned from my experience.. first, never try and use a 10" dual voice coilsub to get your 12" dual voice coil sub to work ahah. ok on my 10 mtx dual voice, they have a wire going from one negative to one positive then the other positive and negative are used to plug the sub to whatever ur amp or whatever.. now the 12" it needed a wire from one positive to one negative but with both postives and negatives and then you plug ur wire that goes to ur amp or whatever into the terminal what makes it 2 ohm? correct me if im wrong. and then if your just gonna run it as 4 ohm just hook ur wires that goes to ur amp or whatever to the terminal that makes it run as 4 ohm. does that all sound correct guys? please correct me if i got what i just said wrong, if i said it all right, then obby damn i learned something new ahah, thanks for all the help guys!!! i cant wait to get this 12" hooked to an amp it slams pretty good on my home stereo in the box i made up today in an hour. i made a sealed sub box today and it turned out pretty good IMO for being my very first box built from wood. now should i put a port in my box i made or leave it sealed for this 12" mtx thunder 8000?
