I make a 5 second stop (turning my car off), and after I get going again I notice my battery light, A/T oil temp light, and brake light are on. Voltage at the amp is reading 12.3 @ idle, 12.7 max at 3k RPM. Checked under the hood and there was light smoke near the alt. I went to work, got off, and now everything is back to normal (13V @ idle, 13.8 at 3K)? I take it my alt is slowly going out on me? Would someone like to verify this online diagnosis for me? lol Thanks! Edit: this is stalk alt BTW, my car is a 98 200a alt. by Excessive Amperage hc800 under hood & 2 Deka 9a31 in rear 1/0awg + big 3 SAZ 3000D HDC3 18" @ 2 ohm

Edit: this is stalk alt BTW, my car is a 98 i put a brand new alt on one of my car fired it up and tha alt smoked also, shut it down, thought i wired it wrong, i didnt, fired it back up and it never smoked again and been in the car for over 4yrs now

And it still has good output? And skittles are you talking about the bolt where I connect the power wire for the big 3? 200a alt. by Excessive Amperage hc800 under hood & 2 Deka 9a31 in rear 1/0awg + big 3 SAZ 3000D HDC3 18" @ 2 ohm
