Emoxihax Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 if they're both tuned to the same frequency will they sound the same? Quote 2004 Volkswagen GLI 1 10" Skar VVX ^^^ Looking for an amp to run it, Pm me if you have one ^^^
Hugh G. Rection Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 if they're both tuned to the same frequency will they sound the same? the 3" would most likely play a wider range of frequency, and the 4" would play a more narrow band of frequency before the driver starts to unload below tuned frequency, but would also most likely yield a louder output. fecupe2001 Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Depends on the aplication hommie, a lot of people says that output doesn´t have to do with port area, that´s a fight i always have on forums haha, yes imo bigger port has bigger output and less port noise, but once again, depends on the aplication, try using a single 6" aeroport for a 2 c/f 12" sub box and then use a 10" aeroport on the same box, you´ll see that the smaller port would sound a lot louder and would get wider range of frequency Edited September 29, 2010 by fecupe2001 Quote I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. Hugh G. Rection Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 so for overall the 2 4" would be louder? most likely, depending on what you got going on. Quote Owner of BigAss Ports
Emoxihax Posted September 29, 2010 Author Report Posted September 29, 2010 box for my 15" fi bl gonna be 16.5" high 26" wide 19" deep so 3.72 cubic feet. 2 4" aero ports 14" long will give me a frequency of 33.5 which I'm more thanh appy with. sound good? fecupe2001 Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 That´s very true, car audio is fun as hell, i had 3 MTX 7500´s 10" in my swift, had 3 4" ports for them and that shit slammed, i changed to DD´s 1510 and didn´t sound that loud, changed to a single 8" aeroport and got a lot louder than the 3 4´s , and yes i tried a single 8" for my 3 MTX, it means that my DD´s liked bigger port than the MTX´s , so like Hugh said, depends on a couple of things besides sub and car, one of them should be box size. fecupe2001 Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 That´s very small port area hommie, i would try to stick 3 4´s Quote I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. Emoxihax Posted September 29, 2010 Author Report Posted September 29, 2010 That´s very small port area hommie, i would try to stick 3 4´s trying to figure out how I can do this, on the torres calculator it says the ports need to bend after 14" and if I do 3 4" x 14" the frequency is 40.85 Quote 2004 Volkswagen GLI 1 10" Skar VVX ^^^ Looking for an amp to run it, Pm me if you have one ^^^
