thinking about a salt water fish tank and need some help

Recommended Posts

A good filter, some blowers, sand, coral, fish , test kits, proper lighting, etc. Your best bet is to go to the local pet store and see what thel tell ya, or google "starting a saltwater aquarium"

noooo do not go to your local fish store for advice. they will sell you stuff to make a sale. here are the basic

sand

live rock(going to be expensive) rule of thumb is 1 lb per gallon. Im anal about this and have probably closer to 200 in my 150

a filter. a cheap wet dry would server you well. try to avoid canister filters they are nitrate factories.

lighting any aquarium light will work at first.

salt mix and a good clean source of water. if you live in the city thats going to suck because you are getting your water treated.

go to saltwaterfish.com and reefcentral.com. Browse their forums. there is more info there than you could ever imagine.
