plug in sub rca's and lose the radio's amp output?

Recommended Posts

OK folks, this has me stumped. I got a new amp today. My cd player's speakers were working with my old amps today, with no amps today, but not with my new amp. At first I had choppy head unit sound, but it did not get better (I'd say it got worse, if anything). When I unplug the sub amp's single rca, the head unit speakers work fine. I tried the amp at 1 ohm and 4 ohms. I tried the rear rca's, in case the sub outs were acting up. As soon as the I hit the amp's rca input, I lose my HU sound. The amp's output seems uneffected. Anyone have any suggestions on what to look into to, or what may be causing this?

I just thought the rear rca's would have surely worked. Signal from the hu to the amp is definately a good place to start in the morning.
