uhoh_45
so i'm looking to do a full 3 way setup and was looking into getting 4 Eminence APT-80 Super Tweeter with 80° Conical Horn 4 Tang Band W3-319SF 3" Full Range Driver and 4 Tang Band W5-1138SM 5-1/4" Neodymium Sub-woofers now see i dont know much about crossover and by much i mean anything so i was wondering which of these crossovers would be best to go with? Team Bassick - Kimo
First and foremost, what are you trying to do? A three-way set up is mainly to get the best reproduction of music because the difference size speakers are able to produce the correct frequency accurately. From your selection of speakers it appears the goal is to be loud and clear. Which by all means is hard to do as well. To make the components you selected fit you'll have to make some modifications I assume. I'd recommend going with a bigger mid-bass driver if you can do 8's,do it if not 6.5's will work just as well. 5.5's are just a little on the small side for a mid bass and a little on the big size for a dedicated midrange (but can work). I like your selection of size for the 3" and those tweeters should SCREAM!!! The Hoopty and Steve's Hoe are designed to be loud and clear and was achieved with multiple 2-way 6.5 components and a 10" sub in each door. I and many SQ guys run 3-way set ups in their vehicles and use active crossovers which I recommend as well. Any "cheap" 3-way crossover would work to get you started but you'll need to dedicate an amp/channel per speakers, an amp for tweeters, an amp for midrange and an amp for midbass. I hope this was helpful. Quote KIMO @teambassick http://www.teambassick.com
