I plan to hook up the dash and 4 doors with amps (40w rms x2 + 60w rms x4) Current sub is wired for 500w RMS - not changing anytime soon. 2 Q: What thickness of wire should I get for all this? Is the current 8awg going to limit the amp? It hasn't blown a fuse or anything, but the amp does seem to be cutting off randomly (probably due to the box but that's another issue) I have a 2 way splitter already but the out-lines seem too thin (18 awg) second question: the speaker wire I bought is 16awg. the speaker wire in side the box I just bought is thicker than it (I would guess 14 or 12) Would this cause performance issues? pic related side note: any suggestions on what to set the setting to my amp would be appreciated Uploaded with ImageShack.us i suck men dry...email me for details

(sub,highs?) I know I can't use 8awg for 3 amps...I'm wondering if 8awg is ok for 500w RMS amp is for one sub. rf p500-2 i suck men dry...email me for details

Guest Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 For any amp, always use the largest power and ground wire that it will accept. As for speaker wire for your dash and door speakers, 16awg is fine. For your sub I would use 14
