Dvldogyut Posted October 28, 2010 Report Share Posted October 28, 2010 Ok first off I have a kenwood ddx-514 in my 2001 tahoe. Sometimes when I start my tahoe the radio and radar detector come on as soon as I left off the key. Other times my radar detector doesn't come on, and my hu powers up and shows that it is playing, you can change tracks, put in a DVD and the video play but no sound at all on anything. Cut it back off and start it again and it might start playing music and it might not. Any ideas what my problem might be? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

AMI CUSTOMS Posted October 28, 2010 Report Share Posted October 28, 2010 Kenwood has a nice little feature built into all of there units, if you have speaker lead grounding out and it detects the short it won't let sound play, my money is you have a speaker shorting out somewhere in one of the doors or something or even where you wired the hu up at possibly, check your connections. I think it's something in the tahoe wiring, because when I don't get any sound, my radar detector that's plugged into the 12 volt power supply/ cig lighter, doesn't come on by itself when I start it. I don't think it's this, because I had the hu in my old truck, and I had a short, it just had a blank screen when this happened and it said PROTECT. It went into protect 1 time over a year ago, it played fine in my old truck for a year. Now I put it in here and it started doing this. And I really don't think it's the hu, because the cig lighter isn't turning on my radar detector when I start it up.
